The BooGI BOP has come to an end - time to say goodbye

From beginning to end: What we have achieved

We look back on the year 2022 with pride and wistfulness, because the EU LIFE project came to an end at the turn of the year.  "The EU LIFE Boogi BOP project has helped us find new ways to help companies design and maintain their company grounds more sustainably" sums up Sven Schulz. The guides and checklists for industrial sites and companies, the database with success stories and a toolbox for biodiversity-oriented design in the Mediterranean climate, as well as the European monitoring system developed by the Polytechnic University of Madrid are still available to companies and interested parties. But that's not all: the training courses developed in the project for practitioners in landscape horticulture and facility management were very well received and will continue after the end of the project. And the university module on biodiversity-oriented design co-developed by project partner ILbA has also been firmly implemented at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and will continue to help raise awareness of the topic among young professionals in the future.

The end of the project does not mean the end of biodiversity-oriented company premises for a long time. On the contrary, the future of BOP is promising.

We have established contact points, so-called focal points for further consultation and mainstreaming, as visible points of contact for companies and initiatives that are committed to promoting biodiversity on company premises.

We are continuing our work as part of the "Unternehmen Biologische Vielfalt (UBi)" project, funded by the BfN. As part of the project, for example, the monitoring system is being further developed. Together with the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the Lake Constance Foundation is currently working on a certification system for biodiversity-friendly exterior design of buildings. A certification system for biodiversity-friendly design will be instrumental in ensuring quality and developing a common standard.

We say thank you and goodbye!
